1/1 - 3/19: 2008 Seedling Sale - York County Conservation District is selling bare root seedlings. Deadline to order is March 19th and all orders must be pre-paid. Seedlings are available on a first come basis. Make checks payable to YCDC and send to York County Conservation District, 118 Pleasant Acres Road, York, PA 17402. Seedlings must be picked up on Friday, April 11th from 10 AM to 6 PM at Rocky Ridge County Park. Forms may be picked up at the Dillsburg Borough office. 1/3: ACS Relay For Life Meeting - The Dillsburg ACS Relay For Life Committee is holding a meeting on January 3rd., 7:00 pm at Monaghan Presbyterian Church to share with residents the importance of Relay For Life in saving lives from cancer.  The committee is planning for the 4th Annual Dillsburg Relay, which will be held June 20th and 21st., 2008 at Bostic Field. The theme this year is "Teaming Up For A Cure"!!!  Volunteers are needed to help make the relay a success - it is for a good cause.  If you need more information before the meeting, please call co-chairman Luanne Barrouk at 432-4349 or Anne Young at 432-4409.  We hope to see you there! Thanks

 

1/7: Dillsburg Borough Council will hold a Re-Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 6:00 PM, at the Borough Office, located at 151 S. Baltimore Street. The only order of business will be the swearing in of new Council Members and the election of Council President and Council Vice-President.

 

1/8: Register Your ACS Dillsburg Relay For Life Team NOW - The ACS Dillsburg Relay For Life is just around the corner, June 20th and 21st, 2008.  A Team Captain's meeting will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 7:00 pm at Monaghan's Presbyterian Church.  If you can't attend and want information, call co-chairs Anne Young at 432-4409, Luanne Barrouk at 432-4349, Team Retention/Monitoring Chair Cindy Good, 258-1928.  See you there. 

 

1/8: Margaret Kortze, "Special" Project Coordinator in the Education Training and Development Department of the Holy Spirit Health System",  will speak to the GFWC Dillsburg Woman's Club on January 8, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at Dillsburg Senior Activity Center, 1 North Second Street, Dillsburg.  Ms Kortze's topic will be "Let me tell you about the Spirit of Women".  Denise Thompson will present an inspirational message.  This being the Annual Chili Dinner,  Hospitality Chairman, Jenn Wolfe and Committee Members, Jane Alexander, Denise Thompson, Joyce Watson are hosting the dinner. 1/17: Coming out of Iran with the conviction that we can “Break Down Barriers to Peace Through Understanding,” local Pastor Sandra R. Mackie will give a PowerPoint presentation of her recent experience in that country.  Her introduction to the people, lands, cultures, and religions of Iran is scheduled for the Dillsburg Area Public Library at 7 p.m. January 17. Reverend Mackie has served churches in Dillsburg and York, where she received her R.N. degree in 1974.  She holds several other medical degrees plus one from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg .  Her current pastoral leadership is in such organizations as the Harrisburg Middle East Justice and Peace Group and the Gettysburg Interfaith Center for Peace and Justice, and she is a member of the national Lutheran Peace Fellowship. Sponsor of the Civilian Diplomacy Delegation with which Pastor Mackie visited Iran was the Fellowship of Reconciliation, founded during World War I by a German Lutheran pastor and an English Quaker.

PUBLIC NOTICE

There will be a Special Council Meeting held at the Dillsburg Borough Office, located at 151 S. Baltimore Street in Dillsburg, on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss economic development and real estate. The public is invited to attend.

1/26 - Little Red Schoolhouse Family Dance - Wellsville Historical Society is holding a benefit event at the Wellsville Fire Hall from 6pm - 10pm. There will be dancing, a DJ, and unique games for the kiddies. So dust off your cowboy boots and do some country line dancing, Swing dance along with your special lady or come learn a new step or two while supporting the Wellsville Area Historical Society! All proceeds will benefit the restoration of the Little Red Schoolhouse on Zeigler Road in Wellsville. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
