Information Details:

5/4, 5/6, 5/11, 5/13, 5/15- CERT Training will be held at the Hope United Brethren Church, 110 Old York Road, Dillsburg. The training is open to any person 15 years of age or older at no cost. CERT training teaches individuals to care for themselves and their families and neighbors in a disaster. The curriculum includes training in fire suppression, medical and the care of animals in disasters and requires about 15 hours of classroom and hands-on training. 05/04 - Isaac’s Restaurant and Deli will be holding a “Community Night” to benefit New Hope Ministries on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.  Twenty – five (25%) of the cost of your meal will go directly to New Hope Ministries so we can continue offering emergency crisis assistance, food pantries, counseling, and referral services to local low-income families and individuals.
 The following locations will be participating:  Silver Spring Commons (Mechanicsburg), Rossmoyne Business Center (Mechanicsburg) and Carlisle Commerce Center (W. York). 
A form must be presented to the server the evening of the fundraiser.  The form can be downloaded from New Hope Ministries’ web site or picked up at any of our centers.

05/07 - The Dillsburg Garden Club will be holding their annual plant & bake sale on Friday, May 7th at the Giant Shopping Center next to H&R Block from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. They will have freshly baked goodies from the kitchens of their members, along with fresh plants, flowers, bulbs, shrubs, etc. A great opportunity to pick up a gift for Mother's Day.

05/07 - First Friday at Dill's Tavern from 7-10 PM. Light refreshments and set-ups are provided for this BYOB event. You must be 21 years old to attend. Admission id a $10 donation to support the Dill's Tavern restoration.

05/08 - The Mt. Airy UM Church will have its 10th annual pancake breakfast and yard sale on May 8th, on the parking lot and in the lower level of the fellowship hall. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. The cost is $4.000 and will be served by the children and youth from the church. This event will be held from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm. The church is located at 2020 Pinetown Road, Wellsville. Follow Route 177 to Pinchot State Park Office and turn onto Mt. Airy Road. Go to the end and make a left. The church is on the right. Signs will be posted. In addition to the yard sale, there will be baked goods, hot dogs, BBQ, homemade chicken corn and ham & bean soup by the quart or bowl for sale. This event is held rain or shine. All proceeds will go towards the building fund.  

05/08 - PickleFest Arts & Crafts Street Fair from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. PickleFest, an annual event of Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS) and Dillsburg Area Business Association (DABA), features arts, crafts, local businesses and community organizations. The The designation of dill as “Herb of the Year 2010,” by the International Herb Association, has sealed the “Fate of the Union” for a famous inanimate couple – Dillsburg’s own mascots, Mr. Pickle and Miss Pickle. An Open-to-the-Public Wedding Ceremony begins at 11:00 AM. Guests can register at 10:00 AM, at NYCHAPS’ Maple Shade Barn on the corner of Greenbrier Street and Harrisburg Pike, for a $2 donation. Wear the official wedding colors, green and purple, or create your own pickle-theme attire for consideration as Maid-of-Honor and Best Man, selected by audience response.  All registrants take part in the ceremony. The wedding will be officiated by Mayor Henry “Hank” Snyder.
The day’s events begin with the 5K “Pickle Chase,” followed by a 1-mile “Fun Run.” The Blue Mountain Ramblers will perform from Noon to 1PM, followed by the Pickle Eating Contest at 1:30. A Sideshow Magic performance by Michael Thomas begins at 2:30 PM, featuring fire-eating and escapes.  Children’s activities by Dillsburg Citizens’ Hose Fire & EMS Co #1 include a Safety House and Bounce House. Two hundred “Pickle Plants” will be distributed free to children. Sit-down food service, featuring pork barbeque and famous Pickle Soup is available at NYCHAPS’ historic Maple Shade Barn. Entertainment activities are anchored next to the Barn, at 35 Greenbrier Lane. Arts, crafts, and business vendors extend along Greenbrier Lane toward Dills Tavern, which hosts “Publick Tyme,” a living history encampment of exhibitors and historic demonstrators. 05/22 - Kids' Fun Fair is coming to Dillsburg Brethren in Christ Church - Come bounce, laugh and eat some goodies at the Kids' Fun Fair, Dillsburg Brethren in Christ Church, 18 East Harrisburg Street, Dillsburg. The BIC Dillys, the church's puppet team will stage a special show at 11AM. The fair runs until 2PM. Everything is FREE, including as many trips to the Moon Bounce as you can enjoy. 05/22 - Sweets For Smiles is being held at the Citizens' Hose Fire Hall on S BAltimore Street in downtown Dillsburg, PA. The event is an open-house from noon until 5PM. $5.00 per person and you will get an All-You-Can-Eat dessert samplings, refreshments and entertainment. There will be many different kinds of desserts ranging from light to decadent. The proceeds from this event benefits "Miranda's Smile" supporting teens with cancer at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and other local charities that help children and teens with cancer. 05/29, 05/30, 05/31 - The Borough of Wellsville is holding a Community Yard Sale the entire Memorial Day Weekend. The Community Yard Sale will begin each day at 8 AM and will run from Saturday, MAy 29th through Monday, MAy 31st. You are sure to find something for everyone!
