The Market will run every Saturday and contine through October from 7:00 AM until Noon. It will feature fruit and produce ( not chemically fertilized), baked goods and quality crafts/ artwork.Anyone needing additional information or interested in being a vendor should contact Yvonne at 571-2126. 09/10 - Home Brewers Beer Festival at Dills Tavern - This is a one day festival that will highlight people who are brewing their own beer, wine and spirits. Emphasis will be placed on the history of these skills, ingredients, recipes, equipment, educational seminars and tasting the finished product. The event will be held at Dills Tavern (in Dillsburg), a restored 18th Century tavern and its two acres of ground.The tavern is owned by Northern York COunty Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS). There will be music, food, and 18th Century activities going on during the festival. The name of the event will be "Balderdash", the history and technology of brewing beer, wine and spirits. Balderdash was an 18th Century word meaning "to mix or adulterate liquor". A competition will be held lauding the best beverages and also the competitor with the best historical documentation behind his/her creation. Period dress is encouraged. EVERYONE ENTERING THE GROUNDS THE DAY OF THE EVENT MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD. 09/16 - Jim Malcolm Concert - A real treat for Scotsman, folk music enthusiasts, and the public in general. Internationally know Celtic Folk singer Jim Malcolm is coming to the Maple Shade Barn, 35 Greenbrier Lane, Dillsburg. Malcolm has performed worldwide, at major folk festivals both as an individual and for 8 years as lead singer in the multi-award winning group Old Blind Dogs. Tickets are $15.00 in advanced and if there are any left they will be $20.00 at the door, but seating is limited and tickets are expected to go fast. Tickets can be purchased at The Book House, the Blossom Shop and the Maple Shade Gift Shop. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society. For more information contact NYCHAPS at 717-502-1440. 09/17 - Agricultural Day - The Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society will be holding Agricultural Day at Dill's Tavern. Activities will include hog butchering starting at 8:00 am. Bob Taylor of Warrington Meats will be dressing a hog on the premises. Watch him make the various cuts and process sausage and scrapple in an open-fired kettle. A limited amount will be available for sale on a first come first served basis. We will also be cutting cabbage fro making sauerkraut at 10:00 am. We will have quart and pint jars available, along with lids and rings. The fermentation process will take six weeks and then you will have delicious kraut. A donation of $1 is requested per quart and 74 cents a pint. Also this day at 11:00 am, we will flail the wheat we harvested back in July. This is a free event at Dill's Tavern, 227 North Baltimore St, Dillsburg. Baltimore Street, Dillsburg from 6:30-7:30 pm. Special Agent Craig LeCadre from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office will give an Internet safety presentation to families. Join us for this very important session on online safety and protecting our children. No registration is needed. 09/21 - York County Housing & Community Development Grant Programs - All citizens of York COunty are urged to attend a public hearing to discuss the County's proposed FY 2012 Action Plan, which serves as the application process for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership Act (HOME) and Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) Programs. The Plan also sets forth the proposed use of Federal funds to meet housing and community needs identified in the County's FY 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan. The public hearing will provide information and take comments on the proposed Action Plan for 2010 and the 2012-2014 Three-Year Funding Plan. The hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 7:00 pm at the York County Office Building, Meeting Room 1, 118 Pleasant Acres Road, York, PA.
