05/01-03 - Introduction to Knife Making - Friday May 1st - Sunday May 3rd at the Wheelwright Shop at Dill's Tavern and Plantation - Cost is $200 per person - Instructor Randy Stine will be leading a knife making class on May 1-3. 05/02 - Spring Book Sale: May 2, 2015 from 9:00am-3:00pm at the Dillsburg Library. Join us for the last book sale before we move to our new location! We have a great variety of books at unbelievably cheap prices. While we have temporarily stopped taking book donations in preparation for our move, we will accept new and gently used books that have been published in the last 5 years for our book sale. 05/02 - Quilt and Craft Bingo - Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Franklintown Fire Hall - Bingo begins at 1:00 p.m., Fire Hall kitchen opens at 11:30 am. - Do you like to bingo? Come down to the Franklintown Fire Hall and support the building of the NYCHAPS Fiber Crafts Center at the Maple Shade Barn. Prizes include gift cards to major craft and fabric stores, as well as a variety of handmade quilted and crafted items. Jackpot prize is a used Singer Featherweight sewing machine in good condition, including its case. Tickets are $20 for 16 regular games.  Four specialty games and Jackpot Game sold separately.

05/04 -Bargello Quilting - This class is offered the week of May 4th with two more classes to follow on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. The date and time of the first class will be determined according to your response. The instructor is Winni Flynn. This workshop is appropriate for quilters of all experience levels. 05/04 - Bingo for Books: Monday, May 4, 2015 from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Dillsburg Library.   All Ages.   This fun family event is a chance to play bingo and win  children's books!

05/05 & 05/12 - Preschool Storytime at the Library at 10:30 am. Storytime will be held at the Dillsburg Area Public Library.  Storytime for all ages (babies – 5) are invited to listen to stories, sing and do a craft each week.  No registration is required.  This is a social time for preschool children and caregivers.

05/05- Bedtime Math: Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Dillsburg Library. Wear your pajamas to play Math activities and games. Ages 6-9. 25 participant limit. Registration required 

05/05 - Download Library eBooks on your Kindle: Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 7:00 pm - Learn how to download eBooks from the Library. Bring your own Kindle. This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

05/06 & 05/13 - Toddler Time at the Library from 10:30 – 11:15 am on Wednesdays. Toddler Time, a new weekly recurring play time for children ages 0-3 with their caregivers, at the Dillsburg Library. No registration is required!

05/06 - Artist Trading Cards: Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 6:15-7:30 pm at the Dillsburg Library.  Artist Kate Hufnagel of York Art Association will be here to help you make as many artist trading cards as you want! All supplies will be provided. You can make and trade these little pieces of art with other participants, or take them home to enjoy! All ages welcome.

05/07 - The Domesticity of Yesteryear - Thursday, May 7, 2015 - Program begins at 7:00 pm at the Maple Shade Barn - Free to attend, all are welcome - Bob and Sue Lee will share a light-hearted, nostalgic look at the domestic housekeeping tools and clothes-laundering practices of America's past. See their collection of wringers, salesman samples, and antique washers to step back into your grandmother's washroom. Join us to laugh, remember, and realize just how far we have come!

05/07 - LEGO CLUB will meet the first Thursday of each month, for ages 6 years and up. LEGO’s will be provided. Bring your imagination to create masterpieces which will be left on display in the children’s area. No registration is required!

05/08 - Family Game Night: Friday, May 8, 2015 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Dillsburg Library. All ages. A variety of games will be available for the whole family.

05/09 -PickleFest 2015: Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (Greenbrier Lane). PickleFest activities include a Street Fair featuring a variety of Arts & Crafts vendors along with businesses, local organizations & food vendors.  There will also be a blood drive and a 5K race. The Pickle Chase 5K benefits Miranda’s Smile & begins at 9:00 am (registration at Maple Shade Barn starting at 7:00 am), followed by a 1 Mile Fun Run for the kids.  There will be various entertainment throughout the day, including a DJ and the Bermudian Springs Steel Band.  Other activities include: pickle eating contest, demonstrations by Artists and children’s activities.  Mr. & Mrs. Pickle will make an appearance and the famous Pickle Soup will be available. 05/09 - PickleFest Yard Sale - Pickle Fest is just around the corner!  In addition to all the great family fun and crafts that will be happening on Greenbrier Lane during Pickle Fest, the committee thought, to get more of the Borough residents involved, is to have a Dillsburg Borough Community Yard Sale that day, which is Saturday, May 9th! Contact Kelley Thomas at 439-8023 or send an email to and let her know you are setting up a yard sale at your home within Dillsburg Borough lines and she will make note of it and will be creating a map to distribute at the Pickle Fest and area businesses for people to know where your yard sale is! That's's that simple!! All you need to do is provide your name and address. There is NO cost to set up a yard sale at your Borough home.

05/11 - Local Author Reading and Discussion -Monday, May 11, 2015 at 6:30pm. Local author, Dave Stone, will be at the Dillsburg Area Public Library to share his book, Dreams Die Hard, Truth Sets Free. Please join us for this opportunity to speak with the author.

05/19 - The Primary Election in PA is May 19, 2015.  York County residents will head to the polls to vote for several races including: State Judicial seats, three Supreme Court Justices, one Superior Judge and one Commonwealth Court Justice.  We will also vote for three York County Commissioners and two Court of Common Pleas Justices.  Dillsburg Borough will elect three Council Seats and one School Board member. The last day to register to vote or change your party affiliation before the May 19th Primary is April 20st.  You can obtain voter registration forms at the Borough Office or at the Dillsburg Area Public Library.  The last day to apply for a civilian absentee ballot is May 12th and must be received by the County Boards of Elections by May 15th; again these are available at the above mentioned locations.  For more voter information, please visit www. 05/25 - Memorial Day Parade and Services: Monday, May 25, 2015—Parade forms at 10:00 am at the VFW and kicks-off at 10:45 am. Flag raising and wreath placing at Citizen’s Hose Fire Company at 11:00 am, the parade continues to the Cemetery for Services at 11:30 am.  All veterans are welcome to march or ride with us. If you can’t walk, we will have cars at VFW to ride in. Scout (Boys and Girls) and other community organizations are welcome to march and show respect for veterans of today and those who have passed. We will also have a short service at all Dillsburg area cemetery's between 7:30 and 9:00 am, with Prayer, taps and firing squad salute.  We will place flags on Dillsburg cemetery on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 5:00pm. Anyone who wants to help is welcome.   

05/26 - Decorative Vase Craft: Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 7:00 pm. Crafting for adults program: Create a vase for your summer flowers by decorating a glass with wire and beads. Please call the Library at 717-432-5613 to register for this free program.
